We are looking for a dedicated and professional HSEQ Officers who has the following skills and experience.
HSEQ officer
Location: Geita Site Tanzania.
HSEQ officer to undertakes all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental duties at site level under the supervision of HSEQ Manager. The role will focus on execution of HSEQ management plans, ensuring compliance with relevant Tanzanian legislations contents and deliveries are aligned with Capital’s operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to enforce and uphold the company's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies
- Assist in the execution of HSEQ management plans ensuring compliance with relevant Tanzanian legislation and the company's operational standards
- Provide strategic, timely advice to the project manager and supervisors for the robust implementation of HSEQ management initiatives
- Aid in the development, execution, and monitoring of emergency response frameworks.
- Offer procurement guidance for HSEQ-related materials and equipment
- Engage in internal and external system audits and inspections, addressing IS045001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 standards
- Maintain OHSE documentation as per Tanzanian regulations and the company's HSEQ protocols
- Conduct training sessions centered on HSEQ principles
- Ensure effective utilization of various HSEQ forms (toolbox meetings, Take-5 protocols, Hazard Identification assessments, Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEAs), Pre-Start Inspections, and Planned Task Observations) while providing coaching where gaps are identified
- Investigate health and safety complaints raised by employees
- Coordinate health and safety committee meetings alongside regular HSEQ meetings
- Integrate safety and health discussions as core values in all team meetings
- Exemplify commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship, embodying CMS values in daily operations
- Any other duties as requested
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH, BSC, SAMTRAC) is essential
- Completion of the Tanzania National Occupational Health and Safety Course (NOHSC) Levels I, II and Risk Assessment
- Familiarity with Management System Internal Audit Training (IS045001 and ISO14001) is highly desirable
- A minimum of three years' experience in a similar HSEQ or Related role within a mining environment
- Proficient communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Expertise in conducting on-site HSEQ inspections
- Competence in relevant software applications (MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to formulate and enforce safe work practices; conduct thorough accident investigations
- Willingness to operate in remote locations
- Comprehensive understanding of local health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Possession of a valid Tanzanian or International manual driver's license with competence in driving manual transmission vehicles
