Karagwe District Co-operative Union Ltd (KDCU Ltd) is an Agricultural Co-operative Union registered under the Registrar of Co-operatives in 1990. The Union was established with the core mandate of promoting, developing, and improving the economic, social, and environmental well-being of its member farmers in line with the principles and values of the co-operative movement. Its primary focus is to enhance coffee farmers’ incomes and improve their livelihoods within Karagwe and Kyerwa Districts.
Over the years, KDCU Ltd has grown into a strong, autonomous, and reputable organization. In order to sustain its growth and strengthen operational efficiency, the Union now seeks to recruit qualified, competent, self-motivated and results-oriented Tanzanians to fill various vacant positions at its Head Office located in Kayanga, Karagwe District.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER- (1 VANCANCY)
Nature and scope
The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for driving the Union’s growth and sustainability. The role entails identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, formulating and implementing strategies for revenue expansion and establishing as well as maintaining strong relationships with potential clients and stakeholders for the benefit of the Union. The employment is on permanent employment terms.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To prepare and execute plans for the Union and make sure that all policy documents to be used by departments are available;
- To coordinate preparations of the Union’s operational and strategic plans and provide technical assistance required;
- Formulate and implement business growth strategies aligned with union principals;
- Identify new markets, products and services to expand members benefits,
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities and competitive positioning;
- Coordinate and oversee all business-related projects and investments;
- To develop and advise the management and Board of Directors on viable projects;
- To provide technical business support and evaluate all business projects/investments;
- Strengthen member participation through education, training and communication programs; and
- Implement any other related duties assigned by the General Manager or the Board of KDCU Ltd.
Requirement for appointment
- Must be a holder of Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Accounts/Finance and Investment, Economics, Project Planning Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or any other related fields from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
- At least five (5) years working experience in a reputable commercial organization or cooperative society.

Karagwe District Cooperative Union (KDCU) is an organization of small-scale coffee growers in the Kagera region in the northwest corner of Tanzania, about 200 miles south of the equator. The region has a population of around 408,000 and shares borders with Uganda to the north, Rwanda and Burundi to the west, and Lake Victoria to the east.
The KDCU head office is in Kayanga, about 100 miles west of Bukoba, the regional capital. We unite 135 member AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies) to collectively market their coffee at competitive prices, access training, and benefit from shared resources.
