The IT Officer (Trainee) supports the day-to-day operation of the organization’s IT environment by helping maintain network connectivity, user support services, internal systems, and ICT equipment. The role also assists in basic IT security administration, vendor coordination, system maintenance, and compliance with internal ICT procedures to ensure reliable and efficient technology services across the organization.ResponsibilitiesNetworking
- Administers and maintains the company’s network (LAN/WAN).
- Monitors network performance and ensures uptime and reliability.
- Implements and maintains network configurations and connectivity.
IT Security
- Manages Active Directory and user access controls.
- Implements endpoint security controls and restrictions.
- Monitors systems for security threats and escalates incidents where necessary.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Coordinates procurement of IT equipment, software, and services
- Monitors vendor performance against agreed service levels
- Oversees vendors and ensures service delivery meets requirements.
Repairs & Maintenance
- Oversees maintenance of computers, laptops, printer and software.
- Identifies hardware/software shortages and recommends procurement.
- Schedules upgrades and maintenance with minimal disruption to users.
Internal Systems
- Performs troubleshooting for systems, networks, and user issues.
- Manages system backups, archiving, and recovery processes.
- Provides technical support to staff and project teams.
- Assists in implementation of internal systems.
User Support & Communication
- Serves as first point of contact for IT support issues.
- Communicates with staff to identify technical needs and provide solutions.
- Ensures high levels of internal user satisfaction.
Compliance
- Ensures day-to-day adherence to ICT Policy.
- Supports compliance with the Data Protection Act of 2022 in operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Up to 1 year of relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, networking, or a similar role.
- Good understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, and standard office applications.
- Working knowledge of user support, printer setup, and routine system maintenance.
- Exposure to Active Directory, network administration, IT security, and backup procedures is an added advantage.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with staff and users.
- Ability to take initiative, follow instructions, and manage assigned tasks effectively.
- High level of integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality.
