RESEARCH OFFICER II (BEEKEEPING)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • i. To manage beekeeping operations including hive maintenance, queen rearing, honey extraction and quality control, and pest/disease control;
  • ii. To conduct training sessions and capacity-building programs for farmers and community groups;
  • iii. To monitor and evaluate bee health, behaviour, and colony performance;
  • iv. To support research on pollination, honey production, and the effects of environmental changes on bees;
  • v. To collect, process, and analyze data related to beekeeping and forest ecosystems;
  • vi. To collaborate with research scientists and stakeholders to disseminate and apply relevant research findings;
  • vii. To develop research proposals aimed at securing internal and external funding;
  • viii. To publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other media of publications;
  • ix. To perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Master and Bachelor Degree in Beekeeping from recognized institutions with minimum of an Upper Second Class or overall minimum of Grade B+ for unclassified undergraduate Degrees.

RESEARCH OFFICER (WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT)

  • ii. To initiate and participate in wildlife research in collaboration with other researchers;

  • v. To develop a research proposal for fundraising;
  • vi. To publish research results in peer-reviewed journals/publishers; and

Qualifications

Holder of Master and Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Wildlife Management, Wildlife Science, Zoology from recognized institutions with minimum of an Upper Second Class or overall minimum of Grade B+ for unclassified undergraduate Degrees.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT (VETERINARY MEDICINE)

  • ii. To assist in gathering relevant literatures and information on diseases, surveillances, diagnosis and writing up technical and research reports;
  • iii. To assist Senior Research Officers on collection, processing and analyzing data related to veterinary issues as well as wildlife management;
  • iv. To assist in preparations of protocols for wildlife immobilization and handling for disease investigation, rescue from snares, collaring and translocations;
  • v. To supervise veterinary and laboratory students during their field practical training;
  • vi. To provide wildlife veterinary services to researchers in different ecosystems in protected and open areas of Tanzania;
  • vii. To immobilize wild animals for translocation for restocking or problem animal control
  • viii. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Holder of Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine from recognized institutions with minimum of an Upper Second Class or overall minimum of Grade B+ for unclassified Degrees.
