Job Summary

The U.S. Mission in Tanzania is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Procurement Supervisor in the General Services Office.

The successful candidate will oversee the procurement section and be responsible for acquiring goods and services for the U.S. Department of State and other subscribing agencies. The role includes supervising procurement operations, managing procurement procedures, coordinating contracting activities, supervising staff, and managing the ILMS/Ariba procurement system used for purchasing, contracts, and supply tracking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement section and supervise a team of seven staff.
  • Acquire goods and services for the Department of State and other subscribing agencies.
  • Establish procurement procedures, priorities, schedules, and workflows.
  • Coordinate and oversee procurement and contracting activities.
  • Manage the ILMS/Ariba procurement and supply management system.
  • Ensure purchasing, contracting, and supply tracking activities are completed efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as outlined in the official position description.

Requirements

Selected candidates must be able to obtain:

  • Security Certificate.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Be available to begin work within a reasonable period after receiving required clearances.

Qualifications

Applicants may qualify through one of the following options:

Option 1

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible procurement experience, including purchasing, contracting, and pricing.
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.

Option 2

  • Two years of college or university studies in any field.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible procurement experience, including purchasing, contracting, and pricing.
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.

Option 3

  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible procurement experience, including purchasing, contracting, and pricing.
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.

Language Requirements

  • Fluent English (Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Translation).
  • Fluent Kiswahili (Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Translation).

(Language proficiency may be tested.)
