Security Documentation Officer

Reporting Line: Head – Credit

Job Purpose

The Security Documentation Officer is responsible for managing all securities and documentation related to lending activities. The role focuses on post-approval credit processes, ensuring proper documentation, risk control, and business support. The position works closely with external lawyers, registries, the Credit department, and other business units to ensure efficient turnaround times and compliance with lending requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and vet corporate facility agreements after business approval.
• Prepare and review security documentation required for lending purposes.
• Issue clear instructions to external lawyers regarding perfection of securities.
• Manage relationships with law firms and external lawyers involved in security perfection.
• Maintain security records and databases through established systems and processes.
• Develop reports and management information for Credit and business teams.
• Provide legal advice and opinions to the Credit department.
• Review security documentation regularly to ensure validity and enforceability.
• Prepare offer letters and other credit-related facility documents.
• Follow up on expired securities, including renewals of tenure, land rents, and facility disbursement requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB).
• Valid Practicing License is required.
• Master's Degree in LLM or MBA will be an added advantage.

Work Experience

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 2 years in post-admission legal practice.
• At least 1 year of experience in credit legal documentation.
