The Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) is a nonprofit initiative established by the Kühne Foundation in 2023, dedicated to advancing logistics-focused solutions that drive the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon global economy. Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, with additional offices in Schindellegi, Switzerland, KCC became an independent entity in August 2024 under the leadership of CEO Dr. Jörg Wiese.
KCC's mission is to decouple economic growth from greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Its work is structured around three interconnected pillars:
Green Freight Support Programme: Launched in August 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in collaboration with the Smart Freight Centre, UNEP, GIZ, and TradeMark Africa. This initiative aims to decarbonize freight transport across Eastern Africa by providing training, emissions measurement tools, and support for transitioning to zero-emission vehicles .
