Railway Children Tanzania

Railway Children Africa (RCA) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania and affiliated with the UK-based charity Railway Children. Established in 2010, RCA is dedicated to improving the lives of street-connected children and young people through various initiatives, including street outreach, family intervention, reunification, and youth empowerment programs.

Mission and Activities:

• Immediate Support: RCA provides essential services such as shelter, education, family support, and skills training to children facing poverty, violence, and neglect. ​

• Family Reintegration: The organization works to reunite children with their families whenever possible, offering ongoing support to ensure a stable and nurturing environment. ​

• Youth Empowerment: Through youth associations, RCA offers life skills and vocational training to young people aged 15-24, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods. ​

Impact:

In a recent initiative, RCA aimed to support 480 street-connected youth in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza by providing safe housing and opportunities to develop sustainable incomes.
