Zanzibar Health Service Fund (ZSHF)

The Zanzibar Health Service Fund (ZHSF), enacted in March 2023, is a mandatory, government-led health insurance scheme aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents of Zanzibar. It pools funds from public and private sector contributions to ensure sustainable, high-quality, and affordable healthcare services, including consultations, medication, and diagnostics, thereby reducing out-of-pocket expenses.
