Overview
The Geological Survey & Mineral Research Institute of Tanzania (commonly known as Geological Survey of Tanzania) is a government institution under the Tanzanian Ministry of Minerals tasked with collecting, analysing, interpreting, archiving and disseminating geoscientific data and information relating to Tanzania’s earth and mineral resources.
GST’s functions include geological mapping, geophysical and geochemical surveys, mineral resource evaluation, laboratory testing and analysis, management of a national geoscientific database, and providing advisory services on mineral exploration, geo‑hazards, and infrastructure development.
