Overview

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a specialized agency of the United Nations and an international financial institution, established in 1977 (following the 1974 World Food Conference) with its headquarters in Rome, Italy. IFAD is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger by focusing exclusively on rural development. It supports smallholder farmers, pastoralists, landless people, indigenous communities and others in remote and under-served rural areas.
