Overview
Kakonko District Council manages Kakonko District in Tanzania Kigoma Region. Created in 2013 when it split from Kibondo District, this rural district spans 2,209 km² and had a population of 178,419 as of the 2022 census. It borders Kagera Region to the north, Geita Region to the east, Kibondo District to the south, and Burundi to the west the administrative seat is the town of Kakonko.
