Overview
Kigoma‑Ujiji Municipal Council serves as the urban administrative authority for Kigoma‑Ujiji District, which covers about 92.7 km² on the northeastern shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania. Located at roughly 775 m elevation, it shares borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo across the lake, as well as Kigoma and Uvinza districts inland. Established as a municipal entity in 2005, the Council administers the city of Kigoma and surrounding neighborhoods including historic Ujiji.
