Overview
Mtama District Council, officially known as Lindi District Council, is a local government authority located in the Lindi Region of southern Tanzania. The council administers the rural part of Lindi, with its headquarters based in the town of Mtama. It covers an area of approximately 5,975 square kilometers and borders Kilwa District to the north, Lindi Municipal and the Indian Ocean to the east, Mtwara Region to the south, and Nachingwea District to the west. The district is home to a population of over 190,000 people, composed mainly of ethnic groups such as the Matumbi, Mwera, and Machinga.
