Overview

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the UN agency responsible for promoting and protecting human rights globally under international law. In relation to Tanzania, the OHCHR works (via its regional office for East Africa) to support national institutions, civil society groups, and the government in implementing human rights norms, monitoring rights-situations, building capacity, and ensuring that Tanzania complies with its treaty obligations.
