Job Description
Credit Origination Officer is responsible for managing the Origination and Monitoring Division in reviewing, recommending, and facilitating the credit sanctioning process, as well as monitoring the credit portfolio, providing loan advice, and ensuring that lending policies and regulations are followed.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assess customers’ credit risk and creditworthiness and prepare overall assessments for existing and new-to-bank clients, for individuals and businesses.
- Work closely with underwriting and collection teams to manage loan performance.
- Recommend applications that fit within the Bank’s Risk Acceptance Criteria with the best possible returns.
- Conduct pre-sanction visits to clients’ business premises and offices to verify business existence and continuity, and discuss business progress and challenges related to credit/lending, providing technical support where needed.
- Assist the Origination and Monitoring Manager to identify market trends and formulate strategies for the department’s credit end-to-end process direction.
- Ensure proper implementation of the Bank’s risk policies and procedures as well as regulatory and statutory compliance requirements.
- Participate in product development and provide feedback on areas for improvement during post-implementation review.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support credit decisions.
- Identify, measure, and manage credit risk across a range of on and off-balance sheet asset classes.
- Ensure agreed SLAs and TATs are achieved as per business requirements.
- Identify early warning signals and take immediate remedial actions to mitigate risks.
- Ensure all overdraft facilities are renewed prior to expiry of limits.
- Prepare and issue offer letters and advisory letters for clients.
- Provide any required information to Management, Credit Committee, or Board.
- Support relevant stakeholders within and outside the department as assigned from time to time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the Credit Department, preferably in Retail and/or SME lending.
- Strong analytical and credit risk assessment skills, including the ability to assess financial statements effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
