Job Description

The Lead IT Business Analyst is responsible for driving the successful implementation of business solution transformation programs within the General Insurance business. The role involves determining, documenting, and translating business requirements into practical ICT solutions while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and seamless system integration. The role requires strong technical awareness to effectively engage with development teams and guide the translation of business needs into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

    Business Needs Identification and Alignment

    • Establish effective IT linkages with the General Insurance business and key stakeholders.
      Translate business requirements into ICT service levels and support frameworks.
    • Implement processes to proactively identify emerging business needs and their ICT implications.
      Engage system users to identify system improvements required to support business strategies
      Conduct robust analysis of proposed changes and formally document system requirements for solution design, development, and implementation.

    Solution Development and Implementation

    • Configure or develop technology solutions that meet business requirements.
    • Clearly communicate proposed changes and solutions to stakeholders.
    • Apply industry best practices and standards in solution design and project execution.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure feasibility of proposed solutions.
    • Facilitate user training and knowledge transfer for new systems.
    • Develop and execute comprehensive system test plans to ensure quality assurance.

    ICT Support and Service Management

    • Monitor and manage ICT support activities in the assigned business area.
    • Report on ICT performance and address gaps in service delivery.
    • Assess training needs and develop relevant ICT training programs.
    • Provide ongoing ICT consultation and guidance to the business.
    • Lead ICT initiatives that unlock technology value and drive business efficiency.
    • Champion ICT-driven change management programs.

    Business Innovation and Value Realization

    • Collaborate with the Projects and Innovation Manager to identify and implement business innovation opportunities.
    • Develop a deep understanding of business operations and align them with technology capabilities.
    • Monitor and communicate IT investment, costs, and value delivered to the business.

    Required Skills and Competencies

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
      • Certification in software development, IT management, or business analysis.
      • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business analysis. Experience working within the General Insurance industry will be an added advantage.
      • Good understanding of General Insurance business processes is desirable.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      Technical and Professional Skills:

      • Strong knowledge of business/systems analysis methodologies.
      • Familiarity with common development languages such as PHP, Java, JavaScript, Python to effectively engage with technical teams.
      • Understanding of relational database systems, particularly MySQL and Oracle.
      • Understanding of application programming, database design, and system architecture.
      • Familiarity with internet, intranet, extranet, and client/server technologies.
      • Ability to interpret system designs, data models, and API specifications.
      • Analytical mindset with the ability to think creatively and solve problems.
      • Awareness of emerging industry trends and best practices.
      • Self-driven with strong discipline to deliver within established timelines.
      • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
