Are you passionate about facilities and maintenance management, with a strong technical background and leadership skills?

Fumba Town and Soul Paje, managed by Valor Hospitality Partners, are looking for an Assistant Facilities and Maintenance Manager to assist in overseeing the maintenance and operation of all communal properties, apartment blocks, semi-attached housing common areas, and TOC-managed properties. This role is crucial in ensuring the functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the developments.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Maintenance Operations:

  • Assist in planning and scheduling preventative and reactive maintenance activities
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance staff and contractors
  • Conduct regular inspections of properties to identify maintenance needs
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues promptly
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets high standards and complies with safety regulations

Facilities Management:

  • Assist in overseeing the operation and maintenance of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history
  • Ensure common areas are clean, well-maintained, and safe
  • Assist in managing waste collection and disposal

Contractor Management:

  • Assist in selecting and managing contractors for specialized maintenance tasks
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to contract terms
  • Verify contractor invoices and ensure accurate billing

Safety and Compliance:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and TOC policies
  • Conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards
  • Assist in implementing safety procedures and training programs
  • Ensure all fire safety equipment is well maintained

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in preparing maintenance reports and budgets
  • Respond to resident inquiries and complaints regarding maintenance issues
  • Assist in managing work orders and maintenance requests
  • Assist in creating and maintaining maintenance schedules

Emergency Response:

  • Assist in responding to infrastructure failures and other emergencies
  • Assist in implementing emergency response procedures
  • Be available for on call duty as needed

What We’re Looking For:

Note: This opportunity is open to Zanzibar/Tanzanian Nationals

  • Diploma or degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in maintenance and facilities management, preferably in a residential or commercial setting
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management software
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
