Job Description
Global Communities is seeking a full-time Cleaner cum Office Assistant to support the EFFECTS Plus project operations in Dodoma. This role is essential in ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient working environment while also managing office supplies and supporting administrative functions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic office setting.
The position will be based in Dodoma, with occasional support to field offices in Iringa and Mara. The Cleaner cum Office Assistant will report to the Finance and Administration manager and work closely with the program team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
Office Cleaning & Maintenance (40%)
- Ensure daily cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, and restrooms.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all office areas.
- Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces and ensure availability of cleaning supplies.
- Support in setting up meeting rooms and refreshments for internal and external meetings.
- Report any maintenance issues (plumbing, electrical, etc.) to the Administrative Officer.
Office Assistance & Administrative Support (30%)
- Assist in photocopying, scanning, and filing documents as requested.
- Support in receiving and dispatching mail and packages.
- Assist in organizing office events, workshops, and meetings.
- Provide hospitality support to visitors and staff, including serving tea/coffee.
- Run errands such as purchasing office supplies or delivering documents within town.
Storekeeping & Inventory Management (30%)
- Maintain accurate records of office supplies and equipment.
- Receive, inspect, and store deliveries in an organized manner.
- Issue supplies to staff based on approved requests and maintain stock cards.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and report low stock levels.
- Ensure the store is clean, secure, and well-organized at all times.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and office procedures.
- Ability to read and write in English and Kiswahili.
- Good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Physically fit and able to perform cleaning and lifting tasks.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a secondary school education (Form IV or above). A certificate/diploma in community development, secretarial service is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Require early morning and may require late evening work during events or high activity periods.
Position open to Tanzania Nationals only.
