SENIOR MANAGER SPECIAL DESK & ELECTRIFICATION

Job Purpose
To originate, manage, and grow profitable banking relationships within the electrification and energy value chain, including power utilities, EPC contractors, renewable energy developers, independent power producers (IPPs), and related government and private sector entities. The role focuses on asset growth, deposit mobilization, transaction banking, and risk management.
Principle Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Develop and manage a portfolio of clients within the Electrification, Power, and Energy sector (generation, transmission, distribution, off-grid, renewables).
- Identify new business opportunities and structure banking solutions including Project Finance, Term Loans, Working Capital, Guarantees, LCs, and Trade Finance.
- Drive deposit mobilization, fee income, and cross-selling of transaction banking solutions (cash management, payments, collections).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Utilities, Ministries, Regulators, EPCs, DFIs, and Sponsors.
- Knowledge on financial analysis and preparation of high-quality credit proposals in line with bank policies.
- Structure facilities that balance client needs, profitability, and risk appetite.
- Monitor portfolio performance to ensure PAR and NPL ratios remain within approved thresholds.
- Proactively manage early warning signals and support remedial actions where required.
- Track developments in electrification programs, renewable energy policies, and infrastructure projects.
- Provide market insights to management on emerging opportunities and risks within the energy sector.
- Support the bank’s participation in government-led electrification and energy transmission initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with credit, KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Risk, Legal, Operations, and Trade teams to ensure timely deal execution.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to approved covenants and conditions.
- Work very closely with Syndications, Trade Finance, Treasury, and Transaction Banking teams for complex and large-ticket deals.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives related to infrastructure and sustainable finance.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Corporate / Business Banking, with exposure to energy, infrastructure, or Project Finance.
- Strong understanding of electrification projects, power sector economics, and structured finance.
- Proven ability to originate and manage complex credit facilities.
- Strong financial analysis, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience working with DFIs, multilateral-funded projects, or government-backed electrification programs.
- Knowledge of renewable energy and sustainable finance frameworks.
