How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Associate Director, Program Optimization and Innovation will drive program quality, efficiency, and innovation across EGPAF’s portfolio. This role ensures fidelity to national and international standards, leads pilot projects to test new service delivery models, and strengthens knowledge management systems to capture and share best practices. Working closely with country teams and global stakeholders, the Associate Director will champion evidence-driven approaches that accelerate impact, sustainability, and the Foundation’s mission toward an AIDS-free generation.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Program Optimization & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and implement strategies for program fidelity, acceleration, and performance excellence.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives across HIV, TB, maternal and child health, and health systems strengthening.
  • Promote use of program data to assess and improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Guide the establishment of standards for integrated, person-centered health care.

Innovation & Learning

  • Design and oversee pilot projects to test innovative service delivery models.
  • Document and disseminate lessons learned, success stories, and best practices.
  • Establish standards for programmatic innovation and improvement science.
  • Collaborate with country leadership to drive programmatic innovation aligned with the Foundation’s Pivot initiative.

Knowledge Management & Capacity Building

  • Lead knowledge management by capturing, organizing, and sharing critical insights across programs
  • Strengthen systems for knowledge sharing, including learning hubs and communities of practice.
  • Build capacity of EGPAF staff, affiliates, and Ministry of Health partners in quality improvement and leadership.
  • Keep abreast of proven improvement tools and techniques, and support replication of best practices.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work across departments (Program Implementation, M&E, Research, Sustainability) to integrate efforts.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual programmatic reports with accuracy and alignment to organizational goals.
  • Ensure ethical oversight and proper documentation of program activities.
  • Represent EGPAF in national and international forums.

Qualifications

To be successful, you will have:

  • Graduate/postgraduate degree in medicine, nursing, public health, epidemiology, demography, or program management.
  • 12+ years of international experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • 6+ years in management, with expertise in innovation and transformative program design.
  • Strong background in HIV prevention, care, and treatment.
  • Proven ability to analyze program data and develop evidence-based strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with multicultural teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data visualization tools.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with USG/PEPFAR-funded programs.
  • Oversight of implementing partners and service delivery models.
  • Specialized training in health service quality improvement.
  • Experience designing and leading training sessions, with knowledge of adult learning theory.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) began supporting HIV and AIDS programming in Tanzania in 2003 and established a country office in 2004. Since then, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other key partners, EGPAF has expanded its scope to include integrated HIV, GBV, and TB. EGPAF Tanzania’s efforts focus on client-centered approaches that address gaps in health service delivery and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations, including children and adolescents.
