POSITION: Transport Workshop Manager
LOCATION: Morogoro, Tanzania
JOB FUNCTION: Estate Support
DESIGNATION: Transport Workshop Manager
LEVEL: Middle Manager
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Middle Manager

JOB PURPOSE
The successful candidate will manage the Estate Vehicle Workshop and maintenance plans to ensure optimal equipment availability.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage estate vehicle workshop/garage/vehicle pool and maintenance plans to ensure optimal equipment availability.
- Monitor vehicle performance post services or repairs.
- Plan, organize and control the vehicle workshop unit operations.
- Identify areas where performance and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to implement improvements.
- Manage computerized records for stock holding of spares and materials and minimize down-time.
- Decide on equipment to procure and the most effective maintenance procedures to employ.
- Decide and monitor jobs to be subcontracted.
- Propose and process equipment for disposal and sale as per Company procedure.
- Oversee implementation of transport policy.
- Oversee staff transport arrangements and vehicle availability.
- Ensure continuous improvement by implementing workshop and maintenance best practices.
- Oversee effective talent and performance management of maintenance teams, developing skills within teams through on-the-job coaching.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Leadership and management skills.
- Strong agriculture and fleet data analysis skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Qualification in Transport Logistics and Vehicle Maintenance – Auto, Mechanical, Fabrication and Heavy Plant will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Foreman in a busy transport/vehicle workshop.
- Minimum of 3 years' management experience in a busy transport/vehicle workshop.
- Good business acumen and fleet expertise, with the ability to anticipate, interpret and respond to changes impacting the functional area.
