Job Description
This role supports the attainment of the overall strategic goals of the company to establish, support, run, maintain, and grow the National Lottery in TANZANIA, and take overall accountability for retailer acquisition and management, with a focus on B2B Partners and Key Accounts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years + in business management, including sales
- 5 years + in Lottery or Gaming sales environment
- University Degree in Sales and Marketing or related field
- Proven leadership experience
- Digital and retail experience in operations and sales
THE PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Regional Operations
Supervise and coordinate multiple field teams across different locations within the country.
Develop and execute regional strategies that align with overall company objectives, ensuring consistent operations across the region.
- Manage the approved budget, nationally, within Field Operations, balancing costs and operational needs.
- Track and evaluate the performance of all regional Teams, ensuring targets are met consistently.
- Ensure all Field Operations adhere to local regulations, safety standards, and Company Policies.
- Implement and enforce standardized operational procedures across all locations to ensure uniformity and efficiency.
- Compile and present reports on Field Operations, highlighting key metrics, challenges, and achievements, as and when required.
- Address and resolve any operations-specific issues or emergencies that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption to Field Operations.
Vehicle tracking
- Track the location, movement, and status of vehicles in real-time to ensure efficient routing and dispatching.
- Monitor fuel consumption across the fleet to identify inefficiencies and implement cost-saving measures.
- Assess driver behaviour, including speed, idling, and adherence to routes, to improve safety and efficiency.
- Analyse tracking data to optimize routes, reduce travel time, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Monitor vehicle locations to prevent unauthorized use or theft, ensuring assets are secure.
- Ensure fleet operations comply with legal requirements, such as hours-of-service regulations and vehicle inspections.
- Use tracking data to analyse and manage operational costs, such as fuel, maintenance, and labour.
- Report on vehicle usage, efficiency, and performance to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Use tracking systems to quickly locate and redirect vehicles in response to emergencies or urgent field needs
Operations Compliance
- Ensure all field operations comply with Tanzanian lottery requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to protect employees and equipment.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all field personnel are adequately trained and certified to meet compliance standards.
- Enforce company policies that align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify compliance risks in field operations and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Ensure all incidents are reported, documented, and addressed according to compliance guidelines.
- Regularly review and update compliance programs and Operational Policies and Procedures to reflect changes in regulations and industry best practices.
Field Operations financial management and reporting
- Manage the budget for field operations, including expenses related to staffing, equipment, travel, and other operational costs.
- Monitor all field operation expenses to ensure they stay within the allocated budget and identify areas for cost savings.
- Track and report on revenue generated from field operations activities, including sales at retail locations and other revenue streams.
- Manage the costs associated with inventory, such as play slips and promotional materials, ensuring efficient use and minimal waste.
- Oversee and report on capital expenditures related to field operations, such as new equipment purchases or facility upgrades.
- Ensure all financial activities and reporting comply with relevant financial regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Manage an approval process for field operation expenses to maintain control and accountability.
- Identify and manage financial risks associated with field operations, implementing mitigation strategies where necessary.
Overall reporting and feedback as and when required
- Provide ongoing feedback to field staff on their performance, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
- Generate and submit regular reports on field operations, including sales performance, compliance status, and operational efficiency.
- Document and report any incidents or issues that occur in the field, such as equipment failures, compliance breaches, or security concerns.
- Provide detailed reports on the execution and outcomes of marketing campaigns, including metrics on engagement, sales, and overall effectiveness.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of compliance-related activities, such as audits, inspections, and adherence to regulations.
- Report on financial aspects of field operations, including budget adherence, expense tracking, and revenue generation.
- Conduct and report on periodic performance reviews for field staff, setting goals and outlining development plans.
- Prepare and deliver reports as requested by senior management, covering specific aspects of field operations or addressing particular concerns.
- Report on trends observed in the field, such as changes in retailer behaviour, customer preferences, or operational challenges.
Assist with marketing campaigns
- Coordinate the execution of marketing campaigns at the regional level, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy.
- Provide valuable insights into market conditions and customer behaviour to tailor marketing efforts effectively.
- Work closely with lottery retailers to ensure they are informed, equipped, and motivated to assist with the campaign to increase sales revenue.
- Oversee the setup and maintenance of in-store promotional materials, such as posters, displays, and point-of-sale signage.
- Train field staff and retail employees on the details of the campaign, including key messages, goals, and promotional techniques.
- Monitor the execution of the campaign in the field, gathering feedback from staff and retailers to ensure objectives are being met.
- Assist in collecting data on campaign performance, such as sales increases, customer engagement, and retailer participation.
- Ensure that all marketing activities conducted in the field comply with all regulations and company policies.
- Allocate necessary resources, such as promotional materials and staffing, to support the campaign in various locations.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during the campaign, such as logistical challenges or retailer concerns
- Provide updates and reports on the campaign’s progress, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Gather and relay customer feedback from the field to the marketing team to inform future campaigns and adjustments.
- Provide feedback to senior management on potential improvements, new opportunities, or emerging risks in field operations.
- Report on the progress of any special projects or initiatives undertaken by the field operations team, including milestones and outcomes
