Job Description
As the main point of contact for Tanzania at the Kuehne Climate Centre (KCC), you will play a pivotal role in in coordinating and implementing climate-related projects in African countries, with a particular emphasis on Tanzania. You will contribute to the development of low-carbon logistics systems Within the country and contributing to other climate programs, for example on carbon dioxide removal or climate-resilient supply chains.
The KCC is a new subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation. As a think & do tank, its mission is to accelerate climate-compatible development within and through logistics systems. We do this through applied research & thought leadership, project & advisory work, and training & capacity building, with a focus on countries of the global South.
The KCC is working with local and international partners to develop logistic systems in Africa that are low carbon and climate resilient. This includes the implementation of a Green Freight Support Programs in Eastern Africa, projects to support freight electrification and active engagement in multi-stakeholder alliances.
Key partnerships are integral to our approach, involving stakeholders such as major Government agencies, various logistics associations, development organizations, and academic institutions. By joining KCC Tanzania, you will contribute to meaningful projects that address climate challenges and promote sustainable logistics solutions across the region.
What You Will Do
- Be in charge of implementing activities by the Green Freight Support Program in Eastern Africa and by other programs of the KCC.
- Help the KCC’s partner organizations in reaching their climate ambitions
- Work with teams of the Kuehne Foundation organizations in Tanzania, Kenya and Europe in evolving projects and programmes
- Do research on climate and green freight trends in East Africa to develop ongoing projects and new ones
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, NGOs, international organisations, universities, and private sector partners
- Facilitate trainings, workshops, and dialogues
- Represent the KCC at relevant conferences, workshops, and meetings by speaking and presenting on behalf of the organization
You‘re good at

You bring
- 5 years of experience in international project management, focusing on logistics, transport, and climate issues
- Bachelor's or master's degree in logistics, transport and supply chain management, environmental science, or a related field
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in Swahili, English, and intercultural affairs- Ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders
- Proactive and independent work style
- Ability to collaborate effectively with virtual international teams
- Eligibility to work and live in Tanzania- Willingness to travel occasionally within East Africa and globally (Priority will be given to Tanzanian Nationals who meet the criteria)
- Experience Working with Government agencies development agencies and private sector partners

Additional Information
The KCC is a subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Kühne family and is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world. As an operational foundation it is involved in the areas of logistics, medicine, culture and, since the beginning of 2023, climate action. The Foundation is independent, operational and international.
