The Key Purpose of this role is to execute mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, fabrication, and installation activities on plant equipment and machinery to ensure maximum equipment reliability, plant availability, operational efficiency, and product quality. The role is responsible for supporting preventive and corrective maintenance programs, maintaining high safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across Brewing, Packaging, and Utilities operations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Mechanical Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, refurbish, assemble, and commission mechanical equipment and components.
  • Maintain and repair rotating and static equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, conveyors, valves, and associated systems.
  • Conduct replacement and alignment of shafts, bearings, couplings, pulleys, belts, and other mechanical components.
  • Support equipment commissioning, installation, leveling, alignment, and operational start-up activities.

Workshop Operations and Fabrication

  • Carry out machining, fitting, fabrication, welding, grinding, drilling, cutting, and related workshop activities.
  • Safely operate workshop machinery and tools including lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, welding equipment, grinders, hydraulic tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Fabricate and modify equipment components as required to support maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Ensure workshop equipment is maintained in safe and effective working condition.

Inspection and Reliability Improvement

  • Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify wear, defects, misalignment, vibration issues, leaks, and other reliability concerns.
  • Recommend component repair, refurbishment, or replacement to prevent equipment failure.
  • Participate in equipment reliability improvement programs and maintenance optimization initiatives.
  • Support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, equipment history, and technical documentation.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, P&IDs, maintenance procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with engineering standards, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning and reporting processes.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Comply with all occupational health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Adhere to permit-to-work systems, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Promote a safe working environment by identifying hazards and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and apply 5S principles within workshops and plant areas.

Teamwork and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate effectively with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Brewing, Packaging, and Utilities teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability, reducing maintenance costs, and increasing plant efficiency.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities and provide technical input for improvement projects.
  • Perform any other mechanical maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor or engineering management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Trade certification in Mechanical Fitting, Fitter & Turner, Machining, Welding, Fabrication, or a related discipline will be advantageous.
  • Occupational Health and Safety certification or training will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, workshop operations, or plant engineering environments.
  • Experience within manufacturing, food and beverage, brewing, packaging, utilities, FMCG, mining, or process industries will be advantageous.
  • Practical experience in mechanical fitting, alignment, fabrication, welding, machining, and rotating equipment maintenance.
  • Exposure to computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning processes will be beneficial.
  • Basic computer literacy, including maintenance reporting and record management systems.
