Job Description
AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION OFFICER
FARMLIVE TANZANIA LIMITED is currently seeking suitable, qualified, experienced and highly motivated person to be based in different FARMLIVE offices in Ruvma region.
This position will primarily be based on training in the field. Knowledge of the area and of a language of the region would therefore be an advantage. This position will involve remote travel by motorbike or official car to rural areas to work with farmers)
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to provide training to rural farmers to improve quality, consistency and production of FLTSEEDS. The field extension personnel is entrusted to ensure the quality of agricultural services delivered, attain high standards in the field of processing, planting and land-management. Staff will collect data, report and monitor that data in effective and efficient ways.
MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Field staff will be responsible but not limited to the following:
After a training period have a clear capacity to train others in an ethical manner according to the operational guidelines of FARMLIVE TANZANIA LIMITED.
Work under pressure and the discipline to work with minimum supervision and to strict deadlines.
Coordinate and consult Technical Experts to ensure the smooth running of the project.
Maintain quality throughout the process
Liase effectively with partners and stakeholders
Apply agricultural technology to record field events and register farmers
Have strong analytical skills to be able to make use of information for recommendations.
Submit weekly, monthly, quarterly reports on timely basis as required
Working in a collaborative manner with the other field workers.
Be physically fit and able to walk distances.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree ideally in Agriculture
At least 1-2 years of professional experience in field work.
Experience in agricultural data basing, monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
Computer literate. Proficiency in MS Office especially Excel.
A team player with strong leadership skills, networking & negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Additional experience in capacity building, training and working in field teams.
Proven ability to adapt and perform well in high-pressure and dynamic work environments and situations.
Professional fluency in written and spoken English
Strong interpersonal skills required, experience working in cross-cultural teams
Valid driving license is a must and ability to drive commercial field vehicles.
