Job Description
This is a full-time on-site role based at Kilombero, Morogoro for a System Specialist / Sr. Technician position in various technologies at Kilombero Sugar Company, a Project for Security and other services under GardaWorld Tanzania. The Technical Systems Specialists will be responsible for design, troubleshooting, physical installation, service and maintenance of various technological and security systems assigned in line with SOPs.
The Technician / System Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including system design, planning, configuration, setup and installation, troubleshooting and providing technical support for various systems including, but not limited to including CCTV, Access Control, Networking, Connectivity (Fiber, Wireless, Ethernet), Perimeter and Intruder Detection Systems, Alarms, Fire Detection, Alarms & Suppression Systems, Electric Fence, Power Backup Systems, Boom Barriers, Turnstiles, Spikes, Communication Systems like VHF Radio Network, Push To Talk over Cellular etc.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for survey, design, technical drawings, planning, project management, setup, installation, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, integration, service and maintenance duties that include but are not limited to:
- Various components of electronic security systems including but not limited to CCTV, Intrusion Detection and Alarms, Access Control, Fences, Intercoms, Networking, Control Centre, ICT and Radio Communication
- Various components of electronic security systems
- Electric, IR and other fences, PIDs/BIDs including, but not limited to civil works, cabling, connection of power sources etc.
- CCTV & various Surveillance & Monitoring Systems
- Fire Alarms & Suppression Systems.
- Access Control and Time & Attendance Systems, including but not limited to Readers, Automatic and manual gates, boom barriers, controllers, turnstiles, spikes, bollards etc.
- Manual & Automatic / Intruder Alarm Systems and integration to various transmitters and systems for response.
- IVMS / Fleet Management & Tracking Systems including, but not limited to Dashcams
- IT & Networking systems, storage, racks, cabinets, servers, PCs, wired and wireless links, fiber optic, WAN / LAN & PA systems.
- Control Room setup and monitoring systems and integration with various technologies.
- VHF, RF and Push to Talk technology and equipment and various other communication devices.
- Civil works including, but not limited to cabling, drilling, trunks & pipes installation, tower / poles setup and working on heights with PPE and safety equipment
- Any other Corporate, Domestic and Industrial Electronic Security Systems and Integration of various technologies for connected operations as well as Power Systems and backup power.
- Solutions, Design, Implementation, Documentation and Reporting of various technological solutions based on the requirements.
- Planning and execution of scheduled preventive service & maintenance of all technological equipment on site as well as attending to and / or supervising corrective maintenance.
- Any other duties which might be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor / Management.
- You will be responsible of taking care of for all the technical material you are to request for a particular assignment until the work is done. You will have to pay for any loss/misplacement of technical materials in your hands.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Design and Analytical skills and the ability to setup, install, configure, integrate, identify and resolve technical system and issues
- Experience in troubleshooting and providing technical support
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, users and team members
- Knowledge and understanding of various electronics, digital security, technological equipment and information technology systems
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Relevant certifications in Networking like CCNA or similar, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Fire Systems, information technology or related areas would be beneficial
- Educational background in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications – Certificate - Diploma - Higher Diploma – Bachelor’s Degree
- Min. 3 years’ experience as an installations technician in a busy environment include demonstrable experience in security system installation, configuration, testing, integrating, upgrading & troubleshooting.
- Formal Security Management Training is advantageous
- Electronic Security Services Management (3yrs – Management or similar)
- Extensive experience w.r.t. implementation of CCTV, Access Control, Time & Attendance, Visitor Management Systems, Intruder Alarms, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems, Fire Alarms, Detection and Suppression Systems, VOIP & Communication – Analog, Digital, Radio / VHF, PTT, Data Center, Control Room, ICT, Networking and Connectivity.
Software / Hardware Skills:
- Broad knowledge of Access Control, Time & Attendance, CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Networking
- Strong knowledge base on networking and communication protocols i.e. TCP/IP etc.
- Basic Computer literacy and proficiency with full MS-Office Suite capability.
- Broad knowledge of Access Control and Time & Attendance Hardware.
- Broad knowledge of CCTV.
- Broad knowledge of Alarms.
- Broad knowledge of Electric and other type of Fences.
- Broad knowledge of Gate Motors and Turnstiles, Boom Barriers/Controllers etc.
- Broad knowledge of Intercoms, PA systems etc.
