Assistant Laboratory Technician

Canuck Company Ltd is a company incorporated in Tanzania specialized in mining and processing activities. Canuck Co. Ltd is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Assistant laboratory technician who will perform all duties related conducting laboratory tests as directed by the Senior Laboratory technician and Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

1. Receive and label all samples brought into the lab including pick-up of underground samples from the head frame.
2. Sample Preparation from drying, crushing, splitting and pulverizing.
3. Sample preparation using atomic absorption
4. Mix fluxing reagents and load samples in furnace for fire assay.
5. Mix reagents for acid digestions.
6. Calibration Lab equipment and Pre-operation inspection of equipment and report any issue to Metallurgist or to maintenance department concern.
7. Ensure work areas and equipment is kept tidy and organized.
8. Assayers in the wet lab area on base digesting when time is available from the prep area.
9. Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (ASS) operation and trouble shootings
10. Other duties and responsibilities, as required.

Required Education and Experience

1. Applicable National Diploma or B. Sc. Degree.
2. Minimum 2 years experience.
3. Computer Knowledge skills
4. Proved experience as a Plant Lab technician in Mining Processing industry will be an added advantage.
