Summary: The U.S. Mission in Tanzania is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Supply Clerk in the General Services Office. Supervisory Position: No. Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No. Travel Required: Occasional travel.
Duties:
- Receipt of Supplies (50%): Responsible for the receipt and inspection of all property (expendable and non-expendable) procured for the Embassy. This includes receiving accountable non-expendable property and entering information into the asset management system (ILMS). Ensures correct labeling of all accountable property and prepares receiving and inspection reports.
- Delivery of Supplies (30%): Coordinates deliveries with vendors, contractors, and shipping agents for all purchased goods/services. Works with the warehouse supervisor for proper delivery of received items and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Claims (10%): Inspects shipments for damage, makes damage assessments, and coordinates with the warehouse supervisor to ensure all received items are properly accounted for.
- Other Duties (10%): May perform additional clerical tasks, including filing and sorting. Drives Embassy vehicle when motor pool driver is unavailable.
Qualifications and Evaluations:
- Experience: Two (2) years of supply or related experience is required.
- Education: Completion of secondary school (Form IV) is required.
- Languages: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in both English and Kiswahili.
- Job Knowledge: Must have knowledge of Department of State supply instructions, transportation protection methods, and safety procedures (SHEM/POSHO).
- Skills: Must be capable of heavy lifting and operating material handling equipment. Must possess a driver's license (Class B and D) and basic computer skills, including knowledge of Windows and Excel.
