About the Role

As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations of our hotels in Zanzibar. You will lead a team of professionals to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate efficiently while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise and coordinate all maintenance operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability of equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend asset lifespan.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and RIU Hotels & Resorts standards.
• Manage the engineering team, providing leadership, training, and support.
• Oversee energy management strategies to optimize consumption and reduce costs.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
• Prepare reports, budgets, and maintenance plans for short- and long-term projects.
• Coordinate with external contractors for repairs, renovations, and inspections.
• Ensure all health and safety protocols are met to provide a safe environment for guests and staff.

What We’re Looking For

Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or senior maintenance role in the hospitality industry.Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.Experience with energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.Ability to lead a team, problem-solve, and work under pressure.Spoken and written English.
