PRODUCTION INSPECTOR - SEED CO TANZANIA

Seed Co Tanzania, a leading supplier of crop seeds, is seeking to recruit a competent and detail-oriented Production Inspector. The successful candidate will support seed production activities by ensuring compliance with agronomic standards, certification requirements, and quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment of suitable growers in collaboration with the Production Lead.
  • Organize and conduct seed production training for growers.
  • Ensure all grower contracts are signed before foundation seed dispatch.
  • Support planting activities, including methods, ratios, and timing.
  • Guide growers on proper fertilizer application, pest and disease control.
  • Ensure compliance with crop rotation and isolation requirements.
  • Monitor rouging, detasselling, and male removal to maintain genetic purity.
  • Oversee application of required treatments (e.g., sodium molybdate).
  • Conduct regular field inspections and ensure adherence to seed production standards.
  • Facilitate timely sampling for laboratory, certification, and purity tests.
  • Monitor harvesting, processing, and handling to prevent seed damage.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and certification documentation.
  • Prepare weekly reports on crop status and production progress.
  • Provide accurate production estimates and reconcile deliveries.
  • Monitor seed deliveries to ensure compliance with quality standards and timelines.
  • Supervise fumigation processes and ensure quality compliance before dispatch.
  • Maintain strong relationships with growers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with seed certification standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support on-farm certification processes and audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in Seed Production.
  • Strong knowledge of agronomic practices and field operations.
  • Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to field locations.
