Overview
Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation and Rural Technology (CAMARTEC) is a government-parastatal institution in Tanzania, established by the Parliamentary Act No. 19 of 1981 and operational since April 1982, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Located in Arusha, CAMARTEC’s mandate is to promote agricultural development and rural industrialization by researching, designing, testing and adapting appropriate mechanization and rural technologies. Its scope includes manufacturing farm implements, evaluating their suitability in Tanzanian conditions, performing testing and inspection of agricultural machinery, developing rural energy solutions (such as biogas and solar technologies), and providing technical consultancy services to farmers, small-scale manufacturers and other stakeholders.
