Overview
The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) is Tanzania’s leading public technical university, founded in 1997 through an Act of Parliament (DIT Act No. 6 of 1997) to replace the earlier Dar es Salaam Technical College. Its roots date back even further to 1957 when it began as the Dar es Salaam Technical Institute, later becoming the Technical College in 1962, before eventually transforming into today DIT. Located along Morogoro Road, Dar es Salaam (with regional campuses in Mwanza and Myunga/Songwe), DIT is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
