Overview
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is Tanzania body responsible for overseeing elections. Historically called the National Electoral Commission (NEC), it was renamed INEC and established as a more autonomous institution through amendments officially taking effect on April 12, 2024, following a bill signed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and passed by Parliament.
