Overview
Mbulu Town Council (Halmashauri ya Mji Mbulu) is the local government authority for the urban area of Mbulu in Manyara Region, Tanzania. It was established as a Town Council on 25 September 2015, covering an area of about 1,891 km². The Council is responsible for planning and managing socio-economic development, infrastructure, land use, and public services under the Local Government (Urban) Authorities Act.
Its economy is largely agrarian, with most people engaged in farming and livestock keeping, supplemented by beekeeping, small-scale trade, and other activities. According to its own data, it has 3 divisions, 17 wards, 34 villages, and 58 “mitaa” (urban neighbourhoods). The Council’s mandate also includes maintaining peace and governance, improving land-use planning, and delivering services with a gender-equity perspective.
