Overview
Musoma District Council oversees the governance of Musoma Rural District, one of the nine administrative districts within Mara Region, northwestern Tanzania. The district was formally established on 1 January 1984, under the Local Government framework, and spans approximately 4,910 km², of which around 300 km² is covered by Lake Victoria, leaving approximately 4,610 km² of land. Its administrative headquarters is in Musoma town, which also serves as the regional capital, although the town itself falls under a separate municipal council.
