Overview
Ngara District Council serves as the local government authority for Ngara District in Tanzania’s Kagera Region. Covering approximately 3,305 km², the district is characterised by its highland terrain—ranging from 1,300 m to around 1,800 m in elevation and lies along Tanzania’s borders with Rwanda and Burundi. The council oversees a population of about 383,000 people as of the 2022 census.
