Overview
Room to Read Tanzania is a nonprofit organisation that works in partnership with the government to improve early-grade literacy in primary schools and support adolescent girls to complete secondary education. It trains teachers, builds classroom libraries stocked with culturally relevant books (often in local languages), and publishes quality children’s reading materials. Through its Girls’ Education Program, it provides life skills education, mentoring, and material support to help girls stay in school and make informed life choices. Room to Read also advocates for systemic change by working with educational authorities to integrate its literacy curriculum and life-skills materials into national education systems.
