Overview
The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), established under the Ports Act No. 17 of 2004, is the government body responsible for owning, managing, and operating all seaports and inland-waterway ports in mainland Tanzania. With its headquarters located in the iconic TPA Tower on Julius Nyerere Road in Dar es Salaam, the Authority functions as both landlord and port operator, overseeing major seaports in Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara, as well as smaller seaports like Kilwa, Lindi, Mafia, Pangani, Bagamoyo, and a network of lake ports on Victoria, Tanganyika, and Nyasa.
