Overview
Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) is a government-owned corporation in Tanzania, established under the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Act No. 14 of 2017 (also known as Cap. 415) to regulate and participate in the maritime transport sector on the mainland.
TASAC’s mandate covers multiple facets of maritime transport: it serves as the licensing and regulatory body for shipping agencies and marine services, oversees port and vessel operations, ensures safety, security and environmental protection in shipping, and also conducts certain shipping business activities for example clearing and forwarding of specified imports/exports, shipping agency functions and cargo tallying under exclusive requirements defined by the law
