TPC Limited, established in 1930, is Tanzania’s oldest sugar manufacturing company. Located in the Kilimanjaro region, it operates one of the country’s largest sugar estates, cultivating 8,000 hectares of sugarcane out of a total of 16,000 hectares. Over the years, TPC has significantly increased its sugar production capacity, expanding from 30,000 tonnes annually to 100,000 tonnes.
Beyond sugar production, TPC Limited has diversified its operations. The company has invested in a 17.5 MW biopower plant, utilizing sugarcane by-products to generate electricity.
Additionally, TPC is developing a distillery to enhance the value derived from molasses, aiming to further boost revenue.
As the largest employer in the Kilimanjaro region, TPC Limited plays a crucial role in the local economy, providing employment and supporting regional development initiatives.
The company also offers recreational facilities, such as The TPC Club, situated within its sugar plantation. The club provides dining, accommodation, and various activities, contributing to the community’s social life.
