Uvinza District Council

Uvinza District Council is a local government authority located in the Kigoma Region of western Tanzania. It was established on July 1, 2013, after being split from the larger Kigoma District. The administrative capital of the district is the town of Uvinza, which is historically famous for its long-standing salt production dating back thousands of years.

The council governs multiple administrative wards and oversees local socio-economic development, public services, and infrastructure projects for its resident community. Its main economic activities include salt mining, farming, beekeeping, and fishing near major water bodies like Lake Tanganyika and local rivers.
