Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI)

The Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) is a government agency established by Tanzania’s Parliament to promote, conduct, and coordinate research on fisheries and aquaculture to support the sustainable development of the sector. Founded after the collapse of the East African Community, TAFIRI operates through various research centers across the country and provides scientific consultancy and data management for Tanzania’s extensive aquatic resources.
