Job Description

As an Accounting Associate I, you’ll provide foundational accounting support by assisting with a variety of general tasks that contribute to the financial operations of either our Global Ministry Center (GMC) or remote offices. Depending on your assigned team, you may carry out a range of essential accounting functions and related duties, along with occasional administrative responsibilities. What will you do?

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Assists accounting team, organizing and scanning backups, entering transactions, reconciling accounts, completing journal entries, and maintaining documentation. Provides general administrative support to assigned team.
  • Assists with research on issues such as past due credit card balances, outstanding payments, and accounts payables discrepancies. May respond directly to internal clients regarding finance and accounting issues.
  • Assists with bookkeeping duties such as calculating monthly office support, preparing various forms and folders for approval, and forwarding accounting documents.
  • Assists with administration of the expense management system.
  • Assists with disbursement and/or reconciliation of petty cash, accounts payable, employee credit cars, reimbursements, and similar issues, ensuring that proper documentation is received and is in compliance with policy.
  • Assists with services to various finance and accounting teams performing duties such as scanning invoices and voucher data entry, entering wire transfers, and expense report processing.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years of experience in finance, accounting, or internal audit within a nonprofit or NGO setting
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
