Job Description

Our client, a well-established and diversified company operating in the construction, engineering, and manufacturing sectors, is seeking to recruit a highly competent and experienced Finance Manager Cum Accountant to oversee the company's accounting and finance functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation, and internal controls. This role requires a hands-on finance professional who can ensure accurate financial reporting while providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of the company.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor company revenues, expenses, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Develop, implement, and strengthen financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support management decision-making.

Accounting Operations

  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  • Supervise invoicing, collections, supplier payments, payroll processing, and statutory deductions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare operational and project budgets in collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Monitor project costs, expenditure, and financial performance against approved budgets.
  • Conduct financial and variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor procurement expenditure and ensure compliance with approved financial controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and financial performance.

Financial Reporting & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare accurate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including TRA, VAT, PAYE, SDL, NSSF, WCF, and other applicable legislation.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns and tax obligations within prescribed deadlines.
  • Maintain complete financial records and supporting documentation.

Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise and mentor finance and accounting personnel.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project teams to support business objectives.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure accountability of company assets.
  • Improve financial reporting systems and operational processes to enhance efficiency and governance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA (T), ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Experience within the construction, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, cash flow management, and project costing.
  • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Sound understanding of Tanzanian statutory and tax regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
