Background
HRNS TZ is implementing project activities in Southern Tanzania through its Mbeya Office. To ensure effective financial management and administrative coordination, the organization requires a dedicated Project Accountant to support project implementation in compliance with internal policies and donor requirements.
The Project Accountant will contribute to strengthening financial accountability, ensuring effective cost control, maintaining proper documentation and compliance standards, and enhancing the overall operational efficiency of the project.
Objective of the Position
The objective of this position is to support the Finance and Administration Manager in managing financial and administrative functions of the project. This includes transactional processing, bookkeeping, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring full compliance with HRNS TZ policies and donor regulations to facilitate effective and accountable project implementation.

Finance and Administration Manager-South, HRNS TZ
Key Responsibilities
1. Mbeya Office Project Administration
- Implement and manage Mbeya office-related administrative activities.
- Ensure the office is clean, organized, and fully equipped with necessary stationery and supplies.
- Design and maintain an efficient filing system.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating travel arrangements and logistics for field staff, visitors, and consultants.
- Supervise office attendants and monitor daily office operations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management for successful project implementation.
- Act with loyalty and integrity in all dealings on behalf of HRNS TZ.
2. General Accounting and Controlling Tasks
- Manage project accounting books and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure smooth execution of project activities by always maintaining adequate cash flow.
- Respond to financial requisitions promptly in collaboration with the Finance and Administration Manager.
- Register all expenditures and income using the official HRNS TZ format.
- Ensure cost control in accordance with approved budget lines.
- Submit all necessary accounting documents to the HRNS TZ USA Office on a weekly basis.
- Ensure all disbursed funds are properly accounted for with supporting documentation.
- Inform the Finance and Administration Manager of any financial inconsistencies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, or Business Management.
- Minimum of three years of experience in an administrative and accounting position within nonprofit organizations.
- Experience working with donor-funded projects is highly preferred.
- Skills in bookkeeping and excellent computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and electronic mail.
- Data entry experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to implement new systems and effect staff behavioral and attitudinal change.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
- Excellent knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
