Field Facilitators at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

• Assist in project coordination between farmers, extension and BioSSA researchers with the assigned cluster
• Assist with layout, planting and management of the trails
• Collect plant and soil data from established trials
• Keep proper records of demonstration plots and the recorded data
• Submit weekly report on the demonstration trials to BioSSA scientists
• Arrange field visits to the demonstration trials as directed by BioSSA project Coordinator
• Train farmers in proper handling and application of effective bio-input products
• Any other duties that may be assigned by project management

Requirements

The candidate should have a Diploma in Agriculture with specialization on crops research and management.

Core Competencies

• Relevant work experience in agricultural research of at least 3 years
• Good understanding of the maize and beans cropping system in Tanzania
• Ability to work with and maintain a good relationship with famers
• A good Knowledge of farming systems in Siha District
• Be a good team player and highly self-motivated
