Job role

Job Purpose

To ensure maximum availability, reliability, and safe operation of agricultural machinery, tractors, implements, and field infrastructure through timely execution of preventive and breakdown maintenance, thereby minimizing operational downtime and supporting optimal sugarcane production goals.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and repair of irrigation infrastructures to ensure reliable water supply
• Inspect irrigation infrastructures regularly and report faults, leaks, blockages, and other defects requiring corrective action
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize breakdown and operational down time
• Assist in the installation, testing and commissioning of irrigation infrastructure
• Maintain irrigation infrastructure to ensure efficient water distribution across the estate
• Support the maintenance of portable water supply infrastructure serving estate villages
• Monitor the condition and performance of irrigation infrastructure and report any abnormalities requiring attention
• Follow company safety standards, maintenance procedures and operational guidelines during all maintenance activities
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and recommend improvements to infrastructure reliability
• Assist contractor during maintenance and construction activities to ensure work is completed according to site requirements
• Maintain accurate record of maintenance activities, repairs and materials used
• Support the training and development of junior maintenance personnel through on the job guidance
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards

Qualifications

Job Qualification and Experience

• Trade Test Grade II in mechanics, plumbing or any related field
• Form Four Secondary Certificate
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Mechanics, fitter, plumbing or any related fields in irrigation.
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent Welding skills
