Job Description
Job Title: EMS Medical Assistance Officer Department: Emergency Medical Services Reports to: HOD Emergency Medical Services Deadline: March 5, 2026
Role Overview The EMS Medical Assistance Officer is responsible for providing professional medical assistance services. This involves the full lifecycle of medical case management, including managing subscription packages, coordinating emergency responses, hospital admissions, and medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) to ensure high-quality support for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Case & Emergency Management
- Plan, organize, and manage assigned medical assistance cases from opening to closure.
- Respond to medical assistance requests via phone, email, dispatch systems, or walk-ins.
- Coordinate ambulance dispatch for both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Manage hospital admissions, referrals, and patient transfers.
Evacuation & Coordination
- Coordinate ground and air medical evacuations (MEDEVAC).
- Liaise with clinics, hospitals, specialists, and air ambulance operators to ensure seamless service.
- Monitor patient progress and provide updates to families, clients, and management.
- Manage Guarantee of Payment (GOP) and coordinate cost approvals.
Administrative & Strategic Support
- Develop and manage medical assistance subscription packages.
- Maintain an updated database of service providers and stakeholders.
- Verify medical reports, treatment plans, and invoices for accuracy.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EMS case reports.
- Assist in marketing EMS services to corporate clients and insurance companies.
- Help develop and implement operational policies and protocols.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing (or a relevant field).
Experience
- At least three years of working experience in a reputable organization.
- Previous experience working in Medical Insurance is considered a strong added advantage.
Required Skills
- High level of professional customer service and communication skills.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality regarding medical and client information.
- Ability to maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders.
