Job Description
You will be working as a part of the Internal Audit & Consulting team, which reports directly to the Group CFO.
About Us
Taifa Group is one of the largest business conglomerates in East Africa, with a presence in over seven countries and investments across multiple sectors including mining, civil construction, LPG, aviation, sustainable energy, fishery, poultry, leather, telecommunications, packaging, agro-trading, and logistics.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will assist the Group CFO in managing existing group companies and supporting the implementation of new projects: You will perform the following in the process:
- Analyse the monthly performance of group companies, identify budget variances, highlight underperformers, and investigate root causes behind deviations.
- Assist in safeguarding and ensuring the efficient utilization of group resources across various business units.
- Apply the principle of propriety when reviewing expenditures and identify those that appear excessive, unnecessary, or misaligned with business priorities.
- Evaluate business processes to enhance revenue or reduce costs by eliminating inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that deliver measurable impact.
- Monitor the implementation of process improvements to ensure sustained performance aligned with strategic objectives.
- Build and refine financial models to assess the feasibility of new initiatives and support strategic decision-making, such as determining minimum viable pricing thresholds.
- Assist in any other related administrative tasks.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
As a qualified Chartered Accountant, we assume you already possess the core technical competencies expected of the profession. Beyond that, you’re likely to be a great fit if:
- You are inquisitive and often find yourself wanting to understand how things work.
- You are a quick learner, able to pick up new skills or grasp how an unfamiliar industry operates with ease.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint — not just with formulas and functions, but also in creating clean, and presentable outputs that clearly communicate insights.
- You have a sharp eye for detail, from numerical accuracy to grammar and formatting.
- You have a mindset of continuous improvement, always looking to sharpen existing skills or acquire new ones.
- You’re comfortable engaging with people across all levels and cultures, from the factory floor to the boardroom with empathy and professionalism.
- You have the ability to break down complex, jargon-heavy topics and explain them in a way that non-finance stakeholders can easily understand.
Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI, ICAN, or equivalent qualification).
- Years of experience don't matter as long as you possess the required skills.
Work Location
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Candidates must be open to occasional travel across group locations and may be temporarily relocated based on business needs.
Compensation
- USD 2,000 – 2,500 net (negotiable for suitable candidates)
- Shared accommodation provided
- 30 calendar days of paid leave per annum
- One round-trip flight ticket per annum
